Digital Eclipse are masters of the interactive video game documentary. They have shown us as much with the likes of ATARI 50, The Making of Karateka, and Llamasoft: The Jeff Minter Story. We recently spoke with Editorial Director Chris Kohler about his role in the company and what was coming up next, (listen at the bottom of this article) and he told us that they had a bunch of exciting announcements in the pipeline.

One of those announcements is Tetris Forever, the latest edutainment package from Digital Eclipse. It’s an interactive collection of games and information about one of the most famous and iconic titles of all time in honour of Tetris’ 40th Anniversary. Honestly, I can’t think of a better company to take on this task; playing Tetris and learning about it through 90 minutes of videos and an interactive archive can only be done by Digital Eclipse, and I’m looking forward to getting my hands on it.

When it comes to playing Tetris, Tetris Forever has a whole host of versions of the classic game. The Digital Eclipse team has recreated the original 1984 game for you to play and included other classics like Tetris Battle Gaiden, Tetris 3, and more. There are 15 classic versions to play and a brand new version of Tetris too!

Come on; you knew there would be a new version, right? Get ready to do the Time Warp again with ‘Tetris Time Warp’! Play with up to 4 people and warp between the different versions of Tetris as you play. I imagine it will be pretty trippy so maybe don’t play it if you’re prone to feeling nauseous!

As of this point, we’re not sure how much the game will cost or when it will be released. The only thing we know is that it’s coming this year. A quick snoop on the Digital Eclipse website shows that it’s releasing on the Switch, PS4, PS5, Steam, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and GOG. I’ve clicked on each of the linked store pages in the hope that someone has slipped up and put a price down, but there’s nothing as of yet. As always, keep coming back for more information as and when we get it, and you can head to the Digital Eclipse website for more information on their huge catalogue of games in the meantime!
