That’s right the classic PSP game Daxter is coming to PS4 and PS5, alongside LEGO Star Wars II that was also released on the PSP and Ghosthunter that was launched on the Playstation 2.

The last proper Jak & Daxter game was released in 2009, with the “collection” re-release in 2012, so it’s fair to say we are overdue some Daxter goodness, even if it is a re-release for modern consoles. It could be that Sony are testing the waters with a potential Jak & Daxter game although that’s just me inner-child getting overly excited.

Alongside Daxter is LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy, another incredible game released on the handheld, this time in 2006.

I feel as ive this year Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft are really seeing the overwhelming demand for retro games, with lots of remasters and re-releases happening across all of the consoles. With emulation become far more popular I think it’s evident that these large gaming corporations are understanding that they need to make a change in their strategy.

Releasing these games in a virtual form factor behind a paywall is the best way of doing that, and adding value to their premium sectors, so I am all for it.

Here’s hoping Sony see the love for Daxter when gamers get their hands on htis on the 18th, heck, I hope Sony have seen what the modding community have done too, bringing the original Jak & Daxter online and with multiplayer functionality!
