Pokémon Legends Z-A has been announced as part of The Pokémon Company’s Pokémon Presents: Pokémon Day broadcast.

Today’s Pokémon Presents broadcast streamed live on the Official Pokémon YouTube channel and featured a series of announcements about our favourite pocket monsters.

The Pokémon Company had teased ‘exciting Pokémon news’ on Twitter ahead of today’s presentation and the reveal of a new Pokémon Legends certainly fits the bill.

Pokémon Legends Z-A is under development at Game Freak and with the announcement trailer embedded below.

The Mega-Evolution symbol popped up towards the end of the trailer inferring that the Mega-Evolution mechanic from Pokémon X & Y will make a return.

The trailer saw a Pokémon and humans frolicking together in an urban landscape with a Tron-style aesthetic, perhaps hinting at a futuristic setting for Pokémon Legends Z-A.

While no gameplay was shown, brief shots revealed Pokémon Legends Z-A will take place in Lumiose City and feature something relating to an ‘urban redevelopment plan’.

The trailer concluded with the reveal that Pokémon Legends Z-A will launch simultaneously worldwide in 2025. While a Nintendo Switch logo was present throughout the trailer, it could also appear on Nintendo’s upcoming Switch successor.

Today’s Pokémon Presents also revealed updates for several other Pokémon titles, including new Tera Raid Battle Events for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet and a Pokémon Go x Pokémon Horizons collaboration event which introduces a hat wearing Pikachu with a new Volt tackle – exclusively for Pokémon Go.

The Pokémon Presents also announced Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket, a digital alternative to traditional card game that features immersive cards allowing players to dive into the world of Pokémon on their mobile phones.

This year’s Pokémon Presents: Pokémon Day broadcast ran for just under 13 minutes, a sizeable reduction from 2023’s 25 minute showcase.

Announced last week, today’s Pokémon Presents finally aired following weeks of rumours. A Pokémon Presents airing on the 27th February has become a regular feature in the calendar’s of Pokémon fans, with the showcases coinciding with the annual Pokémon Day.
