The developers behind the phenomenal Burnout Paradise Remaster have teased the return of the iconic racing series.

Stellar Entertainment are ‘accepting new crew members’ for a new AAA arcade racing title built in Unreal Engine 5 for Gen 5 and PC.

A recruitment post on Stellar Entertainment’s Twitter adds more fuel to the return of the Burnout series fire. The developers posted a new image on the 29th January that offered some ‘insider info’ of what the Guildford based studio are working on.

The image reads ‘POV: You’re about to be rear ended’ with the accompanying text confirming that ‘the bosses *still* haven’t issued any take downs’.

Maybe we’re reading too much into this but fans hoping for a return of the Burnout series will undoubtedly see the words ‘take downs’ and jump for joy.

The Burnout series includes ‘Takedowns’ as a gameplay mechanic. A Takedown is initiated when one player hits another car with such force that it causes it to crash. The words ‘take down’ are synonymous with Burnout with the third game in the series even featuring ‘Takedown’ as its subtitle.

Stellar Entertainment are certainly no strangers to delivering arcade racing thrills. The studio that brought us Burnout Paradise Remastered have also worked on Need For Speed: Unbound and Need For Speed: Remastered.

Stellar Entertainment CEO and founder Paul Ross previously worked for original Burnout developer Criterion for sixteen years. Ross worked as a Technical Director on Burnout Revenge, Online Lead on Burnout 3 Takedown and Burnout Paradise in addition to the Need For Speed franchise.

We’ll be keeping a close eye on any potential return for the Burnout series. We love a good arcade racer at Retro Dodo and would welcome a new Burnout with open arms.

Whatever Stellar Entertainment are cooking up, here’s hoping that DJ Atomika will be there to deliver razer sharp commentary while spinning some epic tunes.
