The awesome new Nintendo Switch title “Otogi Katsugeki Mameda no Bakeru” has just been released exclusively in Japan.
This unique 3D platforming game is brought to us from the same team behind Yoshi’s Woolly World and Kirby’s Epic Yarn – Good Feel Co.

Otogi Katsugeki Mameda no Bakeru
The first time I saw previews for this new adventure, I was immediately interested. It has strong contemporary Pokemon vibes, elements of Mario Odyssey, and touches on that Goemon flavor we love.
Fans of Ganbare Goemon will know it as one of the most underrated N64 games and are likely fans of the many additional titles in the franchise from Konami.
“Otogi Katsugeki Mameda no Bakeru” has been described as a spiritual successor to that franchise, and we’re not upset at the comparison.
There are even bits of stuff like 3D Sonic, Mario Kart and One Piece thrown into this new title for good measure!
“Otogi Katsugeki Mameda no Bakeru” is a Japanese story, through and through, with a character named “Bakeru” making his way through a fictional Japanese-esque world full of unique characters and scenes that look like a ton of fun to explore.
The game has 3D platforming, mini-games, vehicles, real time combat, and massive boss battles à la Mario Odyssey.
Surely you’d agree that everything about this new game is looking awesome!
Release Information
Otogi Katsugeki Mameda no Bakeru has officially released in Japan on the Nintendo eShop, as well as physical editions.
At this point, this is a Japanese language release with no known indications that it will be released in English for the western market.
So hopefully you’ve got your basic Japanese covered if you want to play this title any time soon.
Obviously, this is quite a bummer for many of us who want to see what this game is all about.
Needless to say, we’re crossing our fingers very hard in the hopes of a western market release. And we might have to give it a go with our phones in hand and Google Translate locked and loaded.
