Chaos Emeralds have been part of the Sonic The Hedgehog franchise since the very beginning, and in this guide we’ll be showing you how to find all the Chaos Emeralds in Sonic Superstars!

In traditional Sonic fashion, the Chaos Emeralds can be found by accessing and completing hidden Special Stages throughout the game.

In this guide we will show you how to find the first seven giant Rings across the first Acts of Sonic Superstars initial levels, giving you more time to play with each of the Emerald Powers.

We’ll also reveal how to complete each Special Stage, provide tips on how to claim the Chaos Emeralds, and warnings on how to avoid the hazards within each Special Stage.

Unlike the rest of the Sonic series, Chaos Emeralds in Sonic Superstars each have their own unique powers that can be used throughout the game once unlocked.

With great Emerald Power comes great guide writing responsibility, so read on for everything you need to know about how to find all the Chaos Emeralds in Sonic Superstars.

1. Blue Chaos Emerald – Avatar Power

BLUE CHAOS EMERALD IN SONIC SUPERSTARS

The first Emerald Power that you’ll acquire in Sonic Superstars is Avatar. The Avatar Emerald power is connected to the Blue Chaos Emerald.

You’ll find this giant gold ring near the very start of your adventures across the Northstar Islands in Bridge Island Zone Act 1.

SONIC JUMPING INTO A GIANT RING IN SONIC SUPERSTARS

The first time playing the Chaos Emerald bonus game will give you a quick tutorial on how to catch the Chaos Emerald.

CATCH THE CHAOS EMERALD IN SONIC SUPERSTARS

Your character will start to fall and must swing from the blue nodes to catch up with the Chaos Emerald as it floats around the Special Stage.

As your character approaches each blue node, a green reticle will begin to circle it. Press and hold the jump button to lock onto blue nodes to swing from it and see Sonic do his best Spider-Man impression!

There are yellow and orange cannons dotted throughout each Special Stage. Locking on and zipping towards these cannons will give Sonic a massive speed burst towards the Chaos Emerald.

Passing through the centre of the circles of golden rings adds more time to the Special Stage, giving you a better chance of catching the Chaos Emerald. If the timer reaches zero you will fail the stage and have to try again.

Press and hold the jump button when you’re within range of the Chaos Emerald to collect it.

At the end of the Special Stage you’ll see the results screen. If you fail to collect the Chaos Emerald, you will need to find another giant Ring within the Northstar Island levels and try again.

What Does Avatar Power Do?

Collecting the Red Chaos Emerald is fundamentally the same process you used for acquiring the Blue Chaos Emerald. Make sure to keep your eyes on the Emerald and always move towards it, making use of the cannons to close the gap quickly.

3. Purple Chaos Emerald – Vision Power

PURPLE CHAOS EMERALD IN SONIC SUPERSTARS

Up next in our how to find all the Chaos Emeralds in Sonic Superstars guide is the Vision Emerald power, which is connected to the Purple Chaos Emerald.

If you’ve been collecting the Chaos Emeralds as you progress through the story then you will be able to unlock the Purple Chaos Emerald in Sky Temple Zone Act 1. The giant Ring below was found by taking the lowest path from the start of the level.

The third Special Stage introduces spikey bombs to the mix. While swinging around the level you may notice the target reticle turn red, indicating that you have locked onto a bomb.

While you can still use the bombs to zip around, make sure to release your tether before reaching them. Touching a bomb will result in an explosion that kills your momentum and can make you lose precious ground while chasing the Emerald.

You will once again be rewarded with a shiny, new Chaos Emerald if you can navigate the bombs and reach the goal within the time limit.

What Does Vision Power Do?

The Purple Chaos Emerald grants the Emerald Power of Vision.

With Vision equipped, players can see and interact with hidden gimmicks and levels.

Keep an eye in the bottom right of the screen during gameplay as the Vision Power symbol will indicate when to use the power to find a hidden secret.

4. Cyan Chaos Emerald – Water Power

CYAN CHAOS EMERALD IN SONIC SUPERSTARS

The Cyan Chaos Emerald is up next and arrives sporting the Water Emerald power.

The forth giant Ring we found was in Pinball Carnival Zone Act 1. Try staying near the bottom of the level until you reach a corridor with a rotating wheel that you can jump upwards into. Sonic can then hop into the nearby pipe and arrive right next to the next Special Stage entrance.

Obtaining the fourth Chaos Emerald in Sonic Superstars will require players to chase the Cyan Chaos Emerald while navigating giant crystal walls.

Thankfully the Chaos Emerald remains visible through the walls so plan your route towards the Emerald carefully and try to predict the route the Emerald will take as you swing by the walls.

Capturing the Cyan Chaos Emerald means you’re over half way in the hunt for all the Chaos Emeralds in Sonic Superstars!

GREEN CHAOS EMERALD IN SONIC SUPERSTARS

Next up in our how to find all the Chaos Emeralds in Sonic Superstars guide is the Ivy Emerald power, which is linked to the Green Chaos Emerald.

The earliest chance to earn the Green Chaos Emerald comes in Lagoon City Zone Act 1, behind a hidden gap when exploring the lower pathways of the stage.

SONIC JUMPS INTO A GIANT RING IN SONIC SUPERSTARS

The Green Chaos Emerald is unlike the other Emeralds because it moves in a predictable counterclockwise motion.

Use the nodes and the springs to swing and bounce towards the Emerald and don’t be afraid to ‘run’ towards the elusive jade renegade while falling as this will help to close in on the Green Chaos Emerald.

Once rounded up, the Green Chaos Emerald will be added to your collection. The Ivy Emerald Power will now join your list of abilities too.

What Does Ivy Power Do?

The penultimate Emerald Power that you’ll acquire in Sonic Superstars is Slow. The Slow Emerald power is connected to the Yellow Chaos Emerald.

If you’ve been collecting the Chaos Emeralds from each of the levels so far then the earliest you will be able to find the Yellow Chaos Emerald is in Sand Sanctuary Act 1.

By taking the high path from the start of the level you will eventually come across a numbered loop gate. The giant Ring to access the Special Stage sits just to the right of the loop.

Collecting the Yellow Chaos Emerald is relatively simple however the amount of bombs in this Special Stage is a dramatic increase on the previous levels.

Take your time as you target your swings to make sure you don’t zip into a bomb. Using the bombs to catapult you throughout the level is the best way to reach the Chaos Emerald quickly. Just make sure to detach yourself from the bombs before you collide with them!

Completing the Special Stage will net you the sixth Chaos Emerald and the Slow Emerald Power.

What Does Slow Power Do?

The Slow Emerald Power grants the user control over the passage of time! Use this skill to navigate tricky platforming sections, rapid hazards or bring bosses to crawl while you jump on their noggins!

WHITE CHAOS EMERALD IN SONIC SUPERSTARS

The seventh and final Emerald Power that you’ll find in Sonic Superstars is Extra. The Extra Emerald power is connected to the White Chaos Emerald.

If you’ve been following our guide then the earliest you can unlock the White Chaos Emerald is in Press Factory Zone Act 1. You’ll find this giant gold ring by following the middle path through the level and jumping into the secret area after climbing up two of the green threaded bars with rotating spike traps.

SONIC JUMPS TOWARDS A HIDDEN GIANT RING IN SONIC SUPERSTARS

The final Special Stage is an unforgiving collection of all of the hazards and level gimmicks you’ve faced previously, with crystal walls, bombs, springs and cannons to propel you or hinder you.

Use the nodes to swing towards the Chaos Emeralds and utilise the bombs to zip closer if required. The cannons are great at reducing the distance to the Emerald so be ready to hit and hold the jump button whenever you get in range.

Collecting the final Chaos Emerald completes the collection and unlocks the Extra Emerald Power for all characters.

What Does Extra Power do?

With Extra equipped, each character can now use their unique powerful attacks. For example, Sonic can now use his Homing Attack to rapidly strike highlighted enemies.

8. All Chaos Emeralds – Super Sonic

SUPER SONIC FLIES ACROSS THE DARKENED SKY IN SONIC SUPERSTARS

In addition to gaining all seven Chaos Emerald Powers, with every Chaos Emerald in their pocket, characters can activate their Super state.

To activate a characters Super state, collect 50 rings in any level and push the right stick up on the Emerald Power selection wheel, before pressing the Emerald Power button.

While in Super state, characters will move faster, jump higher and won’t take damage from enemies. Be cautious around environmental hazards as no amount of Super state will stop a hedgehog being crushed!

Lastly, collecting all of the seven Chaos Emeralds in Sonic Superstars is required to access the Secret Ending and the True Final Boss…
