The Pixel Arcadia livestream has only been going for a few minutes, but they've started off with a bang! If you were an arcade fanatic in the 80s, then you might remember Ninja JaJaMuru-Kun. You might have even had a copy for the Famicom if you grew up gaming in Japan. Well, JajaMuru is back on a mission to save Princess Sakura, this time on Switch 2, Steam, and PS5!
The game has come a heck of a long way in the past 40 years, with bright visuals that make you feel a little like you're watching an Adventure Time marathon as opposed to playing an 80s action game. It's not exactly my taste in visuals, but if you were a fan of the original and remember those flat Famicom graphics like it was yesterday, then you might want to check it out and introduce younger family members to the series!
According to the official press release, 'Ninja JaJaMaru: Yokai Night Parade channels retro 90s vibes, allowing players to leap across platforms and crush foes with nostalgic aerial stomps, or make use of the fluid combat system. Execute multi-hit melee combos or fire off unlimited ranged attacks all featuring unique weapon types with distinct attack animations and actions. Then, finish off foes with nine rad ultimate skills, each with 5 tiers of upgrades.'
Clear River Games have certainly created a game that feels more action-packed and fast-paced than a WarioWare speedrunning marathon, and if the music on the trailer is anything to go by, then it'll keep you pumped up and ready for action every time you play. We all long for a 'funky 90s flavor to modern gaming platforms' - it's why I'm still so obsessed with Parappa the Rapper after all this time!
You can wishlist JaJaMuru: Yokai Night Parade on Steam now!
