The PS2 is the best-selling console on the planet for one reason - it's game catalogue. With over 4,300 games to choose from, there was never a chance of us getting bored with the same old titles. And of those 4,000+ games, there were some incredibly influential titles that not only made our childhoods more interesting, but helped to shape the future of gaming for new generations.

We took 16 of those influential games, celebrated titles that have a huge impact on the world of gaming and put them to you, the retro gaming community, to decide which was the best of the best. Metal Gear Solid went up against Resident Evil 4, Vice City vs God of War - behemoths battling titans in impossible showdowns, until only two remained.

Many people thought Resident Evil 4 or Silent Hill 2 would go the distance, but in the end, the undeniable appeal of the Grand Theft Auto series meant it came down to San Andreas vs Vice City, with GTA: San Andreas taking the top prize.
For many, San Andreas is still the pinnacle of the series, the game that had it all, including an incredible voiceover cast featuring the likes of Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Penn, and Ice T. It's also the best selling PS2 game of all time with 17.33 million sales under its belt, beating Vice City in 3rd place by just over 3 million sales (Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec took second with 14.89 million sales).
So there we have it; we might be continually waiting for what seems like an eternity for GTA 6 to drop, but in the meantime, we can go back and play the best PS2 game of all time to pass the time. San Andreas is truly a Rockstar Game in both developer name and nature, and it's a worthy winner of this competition!
