If you’ve been diligently working your way through a new diary and adding in all of the important dates for the upcoming year, then you’ll need to know when Pokèmon Day is in 2024.

There’s no point having Auntie Margaret’s Birthday or knowing when all the Austrian bank holidays are if you don’t know when the inaugural celebration of all things Pikachu is!

Don’t worry, folks; we’ve got all of the info here as to when Pokèmon Day is, what it is, and what we’re expecting to hear from The Pokèmon Company this year!

What Is Pokèmon Day?

As you might imagine from the name, or the notion of dedicating a whole day to a franchise, Pokèmon Day is a chance for everyone involved in the Pocket Monster world to celebrate the global phenomenon together.

I bet when Pokèmon Red and Green first dropped in Japan that none of us ever dreamed we’d be having a full day dedicated to Charmander, Bulbasaur and the gang.

I think you’d be hard pushed to find anyone in the world that doesn’t know who Pikachu or Squirtle are, however, and Pokemon has definitely become a world-wide movement that isn’t going anywhere any time soon!

And, in true Pokèmon Company style, Pokèmon Day occurs every year on the anniversary of Red and Green being available for purchase.

I think we can all agree that their continuity game is strong!

Pokemon Day isn’t just a day for us to all reminisce about the first time that we saw Pikachu on screen or to get together, however.

Like the Nintendo Direct livestream announcements that we all get excited about in the hope of getting some tasty news products, Pokèmon Day also encompasses information about new releases and is usually the date of the Pokemon Presents presentation.

When Is The Next Pokèmon Day?

The next Pokèmon Day is set to take place on February 27th 2024. It’s also the anniversary of Pokemon Red and Green, which will both turn 28 on the day!

If previous events are to be taken into account, then we’re also going to get some epic new reveals and events dropping for us all to take advantage of.

Past celebrations have given us first looks at new games and DLC content for the series, as well as highlighting in-game events such as raids for limited-edition critters to add into your collections.

So all in all, it’s a day you’re not going to want to miss!

In all honesty, I would be surprised if we didn’t get to hear about a new game at this years event. The last remakes for the Switch, ‘Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl’, came out two years ago in 2022, which means that it wouldn’t be off the cards to expect a new remake at least being announced.

I doubt we’ll see the successor to Legends Arceus and Scarlet/Violet until the Nintendo Switch 2, but there’s no reason we couldn’t get a remake of say Black & While or X & Y.

And with the success of the Pokemon Concierge TV show, I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw some other TV related announcements too!

As always, Retro Dodo will have our finger on the pulse on February 27th, so check back with us to get all of the latest gossip, announcements, and information on the day!
