Whatnot, a live streaming auction marketplace that is exploding in popularity recently is putting on a retro gaming show all weekend across the United States.
Retro gamers, toy collectors and comic enthusiasts are live streaming all weekend throughout the “Whatnot Rewind Event”.
This event highlights sellers within the retro gaming space, enticing them to sell their collections, creating bidding wars on the fly.
It’s a good way to not only support creators that you follow but to snag those games, accessories and collectibles that you’ve been wanting for a long while.
For those new to Whatnot, think of it like eBay and TikTok having a child… weird I know, but it’s the best way to describe it.
Since Whatnot launched a couple of years ago it has been a huge success, and although they have a massive trading card following at the moment they are trying to grow their retro gaming categories in the United States.
We were informed by a UK representative that that are planning to eventually take on the UK retro gaming market, but right now they are focusing on getting the app off the ground in the United States and implementing trading card sellers/buyers into the UK application.
To get newcomers to their marketplace they are offering all new sign ups a free £10/$10 credit, meaning you can bid for up to £10/$10 on your first purchase, if the product is less than that, you can get it quite literally for free.
This event is a great way to level up your collection with hard-to-come-by vintage finds, grail giveaways and collectibles featuring retro IP that we all love.
I personally hope their retro gaming category becomes a popular space for auctions as we’d love to see it find i’s way over here in the UK.
US readers, you’re in luck!
