TRIMUI Announce New 'Brick Hammer' Metal Shell In Three Colours

Three metal handhelds

The TRIMUI Brick quickly became one of our go-to handhelds after we put it through its paces here at Retro Dodo Towers. There's a reason we called it one of the best retro handhelds that feels like it was designed by someone at Apple - it's sleek, compact, and incredibly stylish.

What's more, it's powerful too, emulating up to DS and PlayStation 1 and allowing me to play my beloved N64 classics on the go (even if it has limited controls). Now, TRIMUI have announced a range of metal shells to add even more protection to the Brick, and we're already excited.

We're no strangers to metal handhelds here; the premium feel that a metal shell brings is second to none, and having an updated version of the TRIMUI Brick in a metal shell in the same vein as the GKD Pixel 2 is something I can definitely get behind. Precision-machined aluminum alloy shell with anodized coating for that 'cool to the touch' feeling, as well as a scratch-resistant case that boasts improved thermal performance... sign us up!

Our information on the Brick Hammer version of the TRIMUI Brick comes directly from our friends at MechDIY. They've confirmed that three colours, Stealth Grey, Emerald Green, and Rose Gold, will be on sale via pre-order this week, and that the price, which will apparently be very reasonable, will be unveiled within the next 24 hours. Units aren't ready for sale or shipment yet, but more information will be coming in the next few days.

I love the clean, white look of the original, but having that Emerald variant while playing Croc on the PS1 or going for some Stealth Grey when playing Metal Gear Solid will undoubtedly make everything more exciting. If you've not played with metal GBAs before or experienced the RG405M in the flesh, then you'll just have to take my word for it and put your name down for a metal Brick Hammer (which is coincidentally a great band name) when pre-orders go live. You'll find all the information here in this article as and when it drops!
