You know that dream that we all have of going up into the attic and finding something that we bought a couple of decades ago that's now worth thousands? Well, it's happening right now with a specific Sonic toy from the early 2000s, and no one really knows why!
Let's take a trip back to 2001 when Sega released Sonic Adventure 2. They released a plush version of Sonic the Hedgehog to help promote the game in collaboration with a company called Soap Shoes. If you know your skateboarding brands, then you'll know that they were a real company back in the day and one that Sega decided to work with to tell everyone about the fact that Sonic could now grind on rails just like Tony Hawk and the gang.

Soap ceased to be a company a few years later, which means that this toy, while quite niche, is essentially a very limited edition piece and an extremely limited edition piece of Soap merchandise. It's incredible that this toy would have cost around $20 back in 2001, and now people are paying over $3,000 for it on eBay!
Maybe it's the fact that Sonic is the hottest hedghog on the planet right now when it comes to raking in the box office figures that's made people search for this plush toy, or maybe people are just getting nostalgic about Soap. Either way, if you happen to have one of these plush toys in your attic or in your collection, I would strongly advise parting with it before the selling craze disappears!
