There's A New 3DS Emulator Taking The Reigns From Citra

There's A New 3DS Emulator Taking The Reigns From Citra

If you mourned the loss of Citra and wore a black armband for a while after the Yuzu lawsuit, then this news should cheer you up. There's a new 3DS emulator called Azahar doing the rounds, and it's available for Android, Mac, & Windows users to download and try out right now. It's very much early days with the emulator's developers offering up an early release version for gamers to test, with the hope of a stable release coming soon once any bugs have been reported through the project's GitHub page.

According to Android Authority, the emulator doesn't currently support encrypted games or .3DS file extensions. It uses a CCI extension type, though it is possible to change .3DS to CCI and get games working. With the option to boost performance by up to 50% when turning off 'right eye rendering' for 2D games, it looks like a pretty advanced bit of kit that could go on to be a great substitute for Citra. Though the question remains, how long will Nintendo allow it to live?

In other DS-related news, ONEXPLAYER recently announced the Sugar 1 dual-screen modular handheld today which is set to take the DS emulation world by storm. It looks like a Transformer and has about as much power as one too!
