There's A Fortnite PS1 Demake That Gives Us Early Tomb Raider Vibes

I don't often talk about Fortnite here on Retro Dodo despite it being one of the most popular games on the planet and loved by millions of gamers the world over, and that's because it's not retro in the slightest. Still, now that someone has made a demake of it in the style of the PS1, I've finally been able to right that wrong.

Fortnite PS1 Edition is a conceptual project by Pixel that gives the game that low poly PS1-style look with graphics that take us straight back to days spent playing Tomb Raider for hours on end. As it's a Windows-only release I haven't had a chance to put it through its paces, but from looking at the pictures, it's amazing how Pixel have managed to capture the essence of Fortnite while making it look like it belongs in the era of Sunny Delight, The original 151 Pokémon, and popper pants.

'This demake is our creative experiment and a tribute to the games of the past and present,' say Pixel on the project's Itch.io page. 'We’re excited to share this unique vision and let you experience Fortnite as if it had been released in the golden age of retro gaming.'

A to build, B to emote, and use your mouse to attack - what more do you need to know? Yes, younger gamers who are obsessed with ping and lag might be trying to hit their screens to try and fix the terrible graphics right now, but for retro gamers like me, this is a brilliant idea that takes me back to 'the glory days'!
