It's been well over 4 decades since Kevin Toms Football Star Manager released on the ZX Spectrum, and in the absence of any news from Sega about a new Football Manager game coming to the fold, fans are flocking to Steam to get ready for the grandaddy of all management sim games arriving on the platform.
If you've read our article about the Championship Manager game series, then you'll know that Football Manager revived the Championship Manager series back in 2005. But it was the text & simple graphic-based sim bearing Kevin Toms' face on the cover that first got gamers into the tactical mindset back in 1982.
Toms' face was absent from the games until Football Star Manager released on mobile, and now, according to Metro, he's working with Curveball Games to bring the game back to the PC for a whole new audience of gamers to experience.

According to the official game page on Steam, 'the godfather of football management games is back with Kevin Toms Football Star Manager. This faithful recreation of Kevin Toms' groundbreaking Football Manager (1982) breathes new life into the retro classic with modernised improvements to recapture the footy magic of the 80s.'
Kevin Toms' classic game will certainly prove interesting for those Football Manager fans who are too young to know that it even existed, and it's another great step in the right direction for game preservation, even if the announcement trailer states that it has zero modern gaming features that we've come to know and love. This is classic, text-based tactics and simple gameplay at its finest, and I'm looking forward to seeing how you all get on with it once it drops on August 14th. Check out the trailer below!
