In the course of the very lucrative week at the box office, iam8bit has announced that they will be releasing the official soundtrack for the Super Mario Bros. Movie.
If you are one of the many who flocked to the theaters in the past few days, then you were lucky enough to experience one of the best animated films ever made.
And certainly the best Nintendo film of all time.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie was jam packed with classic Mario universe characters, as well as other Nintendo related easter eggs, exactly as we had hoped for.
As to be expected, there were also classic game tunes from the long history of Mario video game titles, most of which were orchestrated remakes of those classic game tracks.
The film also featured a handful of pop hits, and *spoiler alert* a few songs written by Bowser voice actor Jack Black.
Obviously, JB is known for his musical talents as the lead singer of Tenacious D. And his musical talents almost always make an appearance in any film he stars in.
So let’s take a look at what will be available for the super awesome Super Mario Bros. Movie Soundtrack:
The Super Mario Bros. Movie Soundtrack
There will be several editions of the The Super Mario Bros. Movie Soundtrack made available through iam8bit, and it’s hard to decide which of them is the coolest.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie CD / The Super Mario Bros. Movie Cassette
The Super Mario Bros. Movie CD ($19.99USD) is a two disc collection featuring a range of tracks from the film.
That includes “Peaches” by Jack Black, film score composed by Brian Tyler, and orchestrated Nintendo themes by Koji Kondo.
And if that format wasn’t obsolete enough for ya, how about the The Super Mario Bros. Movie Cassette ($19.99USD) which is an iam8bit exclusive.
The cassette will come in a randomly selected color (either green or red) and features the same songs as the CDs.
It’s kind of crazy that in 2023, CDs and cassettes are considered obsolete media, but vinyl records are not?!
Yup, in today’s market, if it ain’t digital, you probably have a vinyl record in your home. So iam8bit has you covered with two options there:
The Super Mario Bros. Movie 7”
The Super Mario Bros. Movie 7” ($12.99USD) is a smaller vinyl record that features two of the best songs created for the film – “Peaches” by Bowser (Jack Black) and the “Mario Rap” as featured in the faux plumbing commercial.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie 2xLP
The Super Mario Bros. Movie 2xLP ($42.99USD) is the big daddy of the soundtrack options.
This is a vinyl record double pack, pink and yellow vinyl records, and features a bunch of tunes from the film.
Just like the CD collection, the vinyl records will feature “Peaches” by Jack Black, score by Brian Tyler, and orchestrated Nintendo themes by Koji Kondo.
The pink and yellow vinyl records are an iam8bit exclusive, and they are also going to be available in red and green through other vendors.
The four format options are all available from iam8bit and are pre-order items.
They are expected to ship in Q3 2023. And considering how long it takes to get vinyl records made, that’s not too bad.
It’s too dang bad that I no longer own a vinyl record player. But, I know Brandon does, so at least one of us can enjoy the new Super Mario Bros. Movie soundtrack in physical format.
I might have to pick one up just as a collectible item because those pink and yellow vinyl records look pretty sweet.
