If you've been around the retro handheld scene for a couple of years, you will know that the Retroid Pocket 5 was a great device when it was released back in late 2024, so much so that it was our highest recommended handheld throughout 2025.
That was until Retroid released the Retroid Pocket 6 in late 2025, which gave it a facelift, some new colours, some extra power, and a larger price tag, now even larger due to RAM shortages.
The Pocket 6 was released with the Pocket G2, basically a Retroid Pocket 5 with more power, and it came with two new colourways, Yellow and Turquoise. However, the G2 has already been discontinued due to the shortages in storage.
Well, it looks like Retroid are re-using the G2 shell and wants to refresh the older Pocket 5 slightly while they still have them in stock. Which makes sense if they're sitting on these random coloured shells. They announced this on their X profile today, and the new colours are now available to purchase on their website.

Though, is it enough for users to upgrade or downgrade? That's not for me to decide; the Retroid Pocket 5 will do most emulation up to PS2 but the Pocket 6 is just $45 more for a power bump that can get you more PS2 emulation, which I believe is worth it.
So, I do think they'll struggle selling these unless the device is priced closer to $150, but it's there and it's a nice addition for those purchasing the Pocket 5 in the future, because there's no denying it's still a great handheld.
