A "new" handheld from MyArcade has been officially launched, one that has been teased for many, many months now. It's a slightly different version from their previously released GameStation Go, a device that was released in collaboration with ATARI, it came pre-loaded with officially licensed ATARI games, a big 7" display and retro controls like a trackball.
Well now MyArcade are continuing this wierd and wacky handheld in collboration with Capcom, Bandai Namco, Jaleco and PIKO Interactive, cramming it full of over 200 officially licensed games for you to explore.
You may be wondering, "Brandon, but what's different about this GameStation Retro Go in comparison to the original", well not a lot but there are some areas of refinement, even if the name continues to confuse many retro gamers in the space.

The biggest changes are the fact it comes with a slightly larger 8" display, a new list of licensed games, and slightly different controls that allow you to explore the games more effectively. There's no trackball on here, nor a numberpad like the previous version, and it's also $20 more expensive, coming in at $199 if you pre-order it from GameStop, which, from what I can tell, is the only place to pre-order it at this moment in time. It ships on 31st October 2026.
In my written review of the GameStation Go, I do mention that it's a fun, unique device for those who want an easy, pick up and play experience of fully licensed games with controls that are nostalgic. The SmartGlow feature is also really cool and is included on the retro version that was announced today, this lights up the controls needed for specific games, offering newcomers a easy experience if there's games they have never played before.
That said, in comparison to other retro-focused handhelds and emulation devices in that same price range, it's not something that can aggressively compete with the emulation devices due to its build quality, poor screen and sheer size. But there is a market for it; there are people who enjoy it, and that's why it's returning with a new look and new games.
