The Disney Afternoon Collection Is Finally Coming To Switch

Darkwing Duck always grabs my attention whenever I see him on a post, purely because he was one of my favourite characters as a kid. So when I saw him next to Scrooge McDuck, Baloo the Bear and both Chip and Dale, I instantly got excited. It turns out that The Disney Afternoon Collection has received a new rating for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, which means it's finally coming to my favourite console!

The Disney Afternoon Collection isn't inherently new. Capcom released it back in 2017 in line with Digital Eclipse, who you'll know all about from our Podcast Episode with Chris Kohler. It never came to Switch, however, which is odd considering it's such a family-friendly console.

Well, that's all about to change as a new ESRB rating shows that it's getting ready for a Switch release, this time with Atari publishing. That makes sense considering Atari owns Digital Eclipse now!

The ESRB Rating is 'E for Everyone', which isn't surprising. There's mild fantastical violence and a boss holding a cigar, but by the standards of what most people see these days, it's all very tame. I watched the very first Snow White film Disney made the other day, and that creeped me out more than a boss rush mode ever could!

There are six games in The Disney Afternoon Collection: Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers 1 and 2, DuckTales 1 and 2, Darkwing Duck, and Talespin. As you would imagine, Digital Eclipse have added some new features into the mix such as a rewind feature (thank you, Jordan Mechner, for bringing this to the world), an in game museum of concept art and music, online leader boards, time attaack modes, and improved visuals with options to view the game with enhanced graphics or a retro feel.

That's all I can give you for now, but I would expect a proper release announcement coming soon, so watch this space for details as and when I get them!
