One of the first games I remember playing as a child was LEGO LOCO on my dad's PC back in the 90s. To get this sucker to run, I had to sit through minutes of boot sequences, loading, opening menus and more, but it was completely worth it. I played this for years, and the recent news of LEGO Skylines has made me want to go back to this game more than ever.
And now I can, thanks to a talented developer known as Geeze, who has spend 6 months of his life trying to remake the entire game to be a little better than the original, because let's face it, if you've played this you know it gets a little repetitive after a few hours and there's lots of areas of improvement, like any 90's PC game.
LEGO LOCO can now be played on modern Windows and Linux PCs with higher resolutions; it comes with new train designs such as the one on the box, which never actually existed. He rebuilt the minifigure spawning system; he's rebuilt the train system entirely so you can speed it up, change interactions and carriage design, added new building combinations and animations, there are now animals and better save controls.
These features give it a new life and modern improvements that take it to the next level and make it somewhat bearable after a few hours of gaming. Geeze has documented his development process on YouTube with over 10 videos showing off his upgrades and building a strong LEGO LOCO community alongside it.

There's still much to do, and although Geeze hasn't uploaded in a while, it's clear LEGO LOCO fans want more, such as Mac and Android support alongside community development, which will no doubt speed things up. That said, it's clear this code is complicated; with each change comes a challenge, hence why he's spent over 6 months on it already!
