Shadow The Hedgehog Co-hosting A Weather Forecast Is The Weirdest Thing You’ll See Today

Shadow the Hedgehog presenting the weather

As we ramp up to the release of the third Sonic Movie, I’m seeing the characters in lots of different places. Many of them are places you would expect; on T-shirts in clothing stores, adverts on the internet, on the wrappers of food items and drinks – you know, the usual suspects. One place I didn’t expect to see the ultimate lifeform, however, was co-hosting a weather forecast and giving a thumbs up to the camera.

I’m not really sure what the play with this appearance from Shadow is – when I played Sonic Adventure 2 Battle and the Shadow the Hedgehog game on the GameCube back in the day, I didn’t consider that Shadow would ever be interested in what the weather was doing. As long as it was dark and dingy, then I just assumed he would be happy. That seems to be confirmed in the short clip below as the presenter asks Shadow if ‘high fire danger’ weather is more his thing, a question to which our favourite menacing hedgehog simply nods at before giving us a thumbs up in reference to being dangerous himself.

The video posted by Morgan @shadowswaterbottle on TikTok simply has the caption ‘FIRE HIM IMMEDIATELY’. I don’t know whether that’s to do with the fact that he’s utterly useless at presenting the weather or that he’ll rip the studio apart in search of Chaos Emeralds the first chance he gets… or maybe a combination of the two. He certainly needs to be a little more proactive with his pointing and descriptions of wind and rain patterns if he’s thinking about branching out into a new career!

I know movie promotion is all about getting your characters and actors in front of as many people as possible; Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds were everywhere before the release of Deadpool & Wolverine, but I’m not sure how having someone in a Shadow the Hedgehog costume standing awkwardly next to a green screen while we discover ‘a cold snap’ heading our way is going to help the movie. What’s next, someone dressed as Robotnik on QVC or Big the Cat appearing on the shipping forecast? I suppose anything’s possible!
