When Roguecraft came to the world back in 2024, Badger Punch Games must have hoped and dreamed that one day their game would arrive on retro consoles. After the game's success on the Evercade and a partnership with Thalmus Digital Publishing, the award winning rogulike now has three new ports on some of the most influential retro consoles of our time - the Game Boy Color, the Mega95, and the Commodore Amiga
And the best part is that you can play them all on original hardware. Ok, that's a lie - the real best part is that they're all on offer right now!
While the game is the same, it's nice seeing the different nuances in graphics and gameplay for the different versions. I'm a huge 8-bit fan, so I'm obviously opting for the GBC as my favourite, and you can play it either via your favourite emulator or on your original GBC via an EverDrive cartridge. The Mega 95 version is playable from an SD Card or floppy disk, and the Amiga version is a '"WHDLoad" package intended for emulators and Amigas with WHDLoad capability.'
If you've not heard about Roguecraft DX, it's a retro-inspired turn-based roguelike made up of procedurally generated dungeons, mysteries, secrets, and scary chickens. There are mazes to navigate at every turn, all with dangerous monsters to battle along the way. And here's the cinch - you only have one life!
Let's talk about prices - Roguecraft DX is available to download for all three systems from Itch.io with a regular price of $9.99, but it's currently on offer. The GBC and Mega 95 versions are currently priced at $7.99, while the Amiga edition is on sale for $5.99!
