If you've been looking to pick up a Retroid Pocket G2 and have been waiting to push the order button, then I'm going to have to be the bearer of bad news. Retroid have issued a post on X stating that they are having to temporarily discontinue the Retroid Pocket G2 due to 'fluctuations in memory pricing', and that they 'truly hope' to bring it back in the future.
'Hope' might not be as reassuring as you wanted, but with prices the way they are at the minute with there being such a high demand from companies needing memory for their AI infrastructures, I honestly think that Retroid's hands are tied.

There is, however, a solution if you can deal with a little less RAM. The RP G2 has 8GB LPDDR5x of RAM. The RP5, on the other hand, has 8GB LPDDR4x of RAM and looks exactly like the RP G2 if you're angling to get the Indigo GameCube, Black, or 16-bit styled variants.
Retroid have stated that the RP5 is not going to be affected, and the Adreno 650 is more than enough GPU for your handheld emulating needs. It's also currently $20 cheaper than the RP G2, so you'll save a little bit of cash that you can put towards getting a takeaway.

In another not-so-pleasing update, the RP Classic (which you can find out more about in our review) is getting a small price increase from $129 to $149, which, while not incredibly expensive, is still another sign of the increasing costs companies are having to deal with that we as consumers are being hit with.
As soon as I hear more news about the RP G2 coming back in stock, I'll be sure to let you know. Check out Retroid's website for handhelds currently in stock, and treat yourself to that Retroid Pocket 5!
