I can't keep up! I just pressed publish on our news article about the Pocket Nova's full list of specifications, and now Retroid has just revealed the official pricing of their upcoming handheld.

Let's not beat around the bush here. The Retroid Pocket Nova will be priced between $229 and $279, depending on what RAM and colour choices you want to go for, and the product listing page is now live, although is "out of stock" until it's available to pre-order.

  • $229 = 8GB + 128GB (Black, 16-Bit, GC)
  • $234 = 8GB + 128GB (Ice Blue, Crystal, Watermelon, Clear Purple)
  • $269 = 12GB + 128GB (Black, 16-Bit, GC)
  • $274 = 12GB + 128GB (Ice Blue, Crystal, Watermelon, Clear Purple)

So, not quite "doesn't require a second mortgage", the 12GB models are certainly in the "premium" price range in my opinion, and it's likely going to be the more popular choice for those wanting fluid PS2 emulation performance.

That said, based on its performance, I think this is competitively priced and will certainly turn heads at AYANEO and ANBERNIC. Many are asking how it competes with the AYN Thor, and it's not going to compete with it, because they are both owned by the same parent company. I believe performance will be very similar, making this a very capable 4:3 handheld.

Retroid will also throw in a free bumper back shell and a tempered glass screen protector for those who pre-order. This offers the user a choice between comfortability or slimness. It will be available as an extra accessory after pre-orders.

Update 26th June: Retroid has also revealed that pre-orders will go live on 26th June 9pm EST, which is in other countries:
