Ubisoft and tabletop game publisher Flyos Games have announced Rayman: The Board Game, for release later this year.

Beyond the announcement and a brief description of the game, we know very little of the new title. “Discover Rayman like never before in an all-new board game adventure!” reads the blurb, “Team up with your favorite heroes in an epic race, dodging dangers and saving the Teensies!”

Bizarrely, the description states that the game “promises thrilling action for 2 to 5 players, ages 7 to 77”, suggesting that Grandma might have to sit and watch if you unwrap Rayman’s tabletop debut this Christmas.

The homepage for the upcoming title includes some beautiful key art of Rayman, Globox, Barbara, Grand Minimus the Teensy and Murfy in the UbiArt style seen in Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends.

There’s also one single shot of the player tokens for Rayman and Globox positioned in front of the box, which features the same beautiful key art. The Rayman and Globox tokens look wonderfully whimsical with Rayman hanging onto a vine providing a clever way to showcase the hero of the Glade of Dreams without having his loose hands as separate parts.

The board game itself comes from the mind of Maxime Tardiff. Tardiff is perhaps best known as the designer of last year’s tabletop strategy game ‘EARTH’, where up to five players can create their own biomes based on our planet’s natural resources.

Rayman: The Board Game is set to launch sometime during Q3 this year, and players can subscribe to the official mailing list to ensure they don’t miss any further information.
