I like retro things that make my office and games room stand out, and not just in a normal way, but a collectable way. A way that others cannot replicate.

A way that creates uniqueness, and a way that could potentially compound in value should the video game and collectable space continue to be a great investment as they have over the last 10 or so years.

Our friends over at InsertBid, a new auction site specialising in retro gaming and trading card collectables, have officially put up a very rare official Nintendo GAME BOY neon sign for auction.

I've not seen this before, and although I see similar in some of the UK's best retro game shops, this is an authentic, Nintendo neon sign from the 90's that looks beyond nostalgic.

How it survived this long is beyond me. Display lights like this have lived hard lives, usually being thrown around, damaged and then thrown away once the promotional period is over.

"Constructed using real glass neon tubing housed within a protective display frame, this sign embodies the unmistakable branding that defined early Game Boy marketing, the colors, bright illumination, and instantly recognizable presence designed to capture attention from across a store floor or storefront window. Retail signage from this period was typically installed for only a short promotional lifecycle before being replaced or discarded during store updates, making surviving examples exceptionally scarce today. Fragility of neon construction further reduced survival rates, as many displays were damaged or disposed of over the decades." states InsertBid.

The auction goes live on 1st March, and there's no reserve, so bidding starts at $0 and will go on until someone wins. This could be your chance to snag a one of a kind GAME BOY sign for your games room.
