If you've been following the journey of Infinity over the years, then you'll know it's been a project fuelled by the love of the gaming community and a bit of a story of the underdog finally getting its spot in the limelight. Infinity started off as a game released back in 2001 by 6 friends at Affinix Software but never got the reception it deserved due to Nintendo bringing out the GBA and attention shifting towards the new handheld. It was going to be one of the last games for the Game Boy Color, but the project was cancelled in 2002.

The closest thing we've come to a release of the game so far was an unfinished ROM back in 2016, but back in 2021 for the 20th anniversary of the game, original members of the Affinix team and new devs joined together to finally finish a game that had been 20 years in the making, launching it on Kickstarter and beating their CA$ 16,000 goal by a whopping CA$ 370,823!

Infinity is a tactical RPG with an in-depth battle system and a plethora of characters. It has a play-through time of about 15 hours with over 30 areas and 100 items to encounter as you play. Though, as I'm a writer, the fact that the script has more than 3,000 lines in it and is longer than Final Fantasy II is why I'm keen to get my hands on Infinity - it sounds like a complete fantasy epic!

Pre-orders are now open via Incube8 Games for the general public who didn't grab the game on Kickstarter. Check out the packages below!

Thanks to the overwhelming reaction from the retro gaming community, Infinity also reached its 20th stretch goal of $350,000, allowing the team to create an enhanced version for the Nintendo Switch and improvements to the Steam port of the game. For now though, you can enjoy the game on a physical GBC cartridge as it was intended and place your pre-orders to get a copy secured.

Infinity is set to release on December 22nd, and you can play a Demo if you want to get a feel of how it all works! You can also buy enamel pins, stickers, and soundtracks separately from the Incube8 games website!
