I've been wondering when Nintendo might bring Mario Paint out on the Nintendo Switch Online platform, especially now that the Switch 2 comes with mouse controls.
I spent hours rekindling my love for Mario Paint over this past month when writing my piece about how, after 33 years, it's still one of the most influential SNES games of all time. Imagine my excitement when I woke up and discovered that Nintendo had sneakily put the game onto Nintendo Switch Online for both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 users to enjoy!
If you have a Nintendo Switch 2, then using this game is as simple as attaching the Joy-Con strap and using the Joy-Con as your mouse, or if you're using an original Switch, then you'll need to use a compatible USB mouse.

I've been messing around with it this morning and using my limited artistic abilities to colour in kangaroos and snakes like I was a 4-year-old child, and it all runs so well. The mouse controls are so much smoother when using the Joy-Con than when I'm playing on the SNES using the SNES mouse. Don't get me wrong, I love that thing, but having the ability to design with responsive controls on a crisp screen no matter where I am definitely is appealing!

I'm very excited that a whole new generation of gamers gets to experience the music maker on Mario Paint, mess around with animations, and colour in pictures of a giant Yoshi. It also means that I can play the Gnat Attack minigame when on the train now, much to the annoyance of the passengers at the table around me! The tracks from the game have also arrived on the Nintendo Music app too, so you can reminisce about this quirky game even when you're not on your Switch!
