I was hoping that Mario Smash Football would be the next title to come to Nintendo Switch Online because of how much time I spent playing it as a kid, and it seems that my prayers to the gaming gods have been answered. Today, Nintendo announced that Mario's action-packed football title will be joining Wind Waker, F-Zero GX, and Soul Calibur 2 on the Nintendo Switch 2, and it's heading our way very soon!

Nintendo Switch 2 users who subscribe to the Expansion Pack, which gives access to N64, Sega, and now GameCube games, can jump back into the first game in the Mario football series from July 3rd. If you've never played it, then imagine a FIFA game with Bob-ombs, shells, bananas, and powerful strikes, all with teams made up of characters from Mario's universe.

Seeing Yoshi and DK going up against Bowser's team of Super Robots is something you'll never forget, and while I've got Mario Strikers: Battle League Football on the Switch, it's going to be amazing playing online multiplayer on the first game in the series, the title that me and my mates spent hours locked-in in front of the GameCube and my clunky CRT in my attic. Those were the days!

Head to Nintendo Switch online for more information about the service, or pick up the original from eBay if you want to play it on your GameCube!
