The Nintendo Direct is well underway, and we've been hit with an incredible piece of news from the get go. Super Mario turns 40 tomorrow, which means celebrations are well underway for the world's most famous plumber. The main event of the 40th anniversary is going to be a new Super Mario bros movie, and as you might have guessed from the title of this article, it's going to be called 'The Super Mario Galaxy Movie'.
While Illumination & Miyamoto say that the inspiration is definitely based on the Galaxy games, there will be lots of other elements and Easter eggs to find that tie in all of the Mario games that we know and love, as well as some epic scores for us to listen to.
Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day, Jack Black, Keegan-Michael Key, and Kevin Michael Richardson are all reprising their roles for the film, which will be released in April 2026. Keep your eyes peeled for more news as and when we get it!
