Console Heroes shook up the collectible scene with their Sega cartridge dioramas earlier this year, and fans have gone absolutely wild for them. They're everywhere I look, and so many of my friends have them sitting proudly in their gaming caves and offices that we can't help but feel excited for the Console Heroes team. You can certainly tell that from the podcast episode we had with the brand's owner to talk about their success story.

But then comes the difficult second album - how do you beat such a great first product? How do you top that? The answer - listen to the public and bring another beloved Sega cartridge to the fold. You gotta give the people what they want!

Console Heroes recently posted a video of a new concept for their Sega Game Gear dioramas, showing a rough look of the product and packaging on an Instagram post. They're opening the development out to their fans, asking for what people would like to see in the hope that they and the retro gaming community can 'build this thing together from the ground up.'

The cartridges look to have a stand where a figure from the game can be placed. Currently, they come in clear plastic cases for that authentic feel and in packaging that looks just like it could hold a real Game Gear. The boxes currently say that there are 8 different dioramas to collect, so we could expect Sonic to be joined by the likes of Ristar, Streets of Rage, Mortal Kombat - the possibilities are endless.

The cartridges are thick enough that they could open up too to reveal a portion of a level like the previous console heroes dioramas, perhaps even just a bit of backdrop to place behind the character, or maybe they could all slot together to create a Game Gear backdrop somehow. I'm just spitballing here, but if you do use that idea, Console Heroes, then I'll take 5% of the profits...

I love the fact that Console Heroes are asking what should go inside and what the price should be; they're really consumer-led which I like, as it makes you feel more invested in the end result. As the product is still in the prototype stage, I don't have any more information on release date or pricing, but you can be sure that you'll find out here as soon as I do!
