It looks like a lucky customer, or friend of Retroid's, has got their hands on an early unit of the upcoming Pocket Nova, a powerful 4:3 handheld that could become one of the best retro handhelds of the year. This user has uploaded a wide range of gameplay videos to his YouTube channel, showing the sheer power behind this pocketable powerhouse.
The Pocket Nova is now up for pre-order, starting at $229 and will begin shipping at the end of the month. A higher price tag than many of us hoped, but its clear that Retroid want to make this one of the most powerful 4:3, pocketable devices on the market and from what I can see on Chris Covers YouTube channel, it's going to be an absolute beast.
Chris has shared many videos showing off individual gameplay footage of the higher end emulation, such as PS2, Gamecube and more, so I'll embed the videos below so that you can scan through and take a look. The first being a classic God of War on PS2 test, and... it performs well!
Chris even pairs it with the Retroid Dual-screen attachment to try out the Nintendo DS and 3DS emulation quality for those who already have the accessory, or are looking to purchase it alongside it.
Hopefully this range of gameplay gives you a quick look at what this is capable of. We do have a review unit coming, but it's not likely to come for another week or two, so you'll have to wait for our full review before giving you in-depth, professional opinions on the quality of the device.
But that said, this is a good start, and I really think Retroid are onto something. Stay tuned, and subscribe to our free weekly newsletter to keep updated.
