Update: 5th December 2025 - Banjo-Kazooie Mumbomania has taken the internet by storm, with fans of the Bird and Bear duo flocking to Dreams to check out the release that dropped just 2 days ago. You guys flocked to our website to find out more about the game, and so far the praise for Eupholace's creation has been outstanding.

But to get the seal of approval from Rare themselves... well that's the dream, right?

In a post on X, Rare, the creators of the original Banjo-Kazooie game as well as Banjo-Tooie and Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, stated that Mumbomania was 'incredible work,' and that they've put on their fanciest hat just so they could tip it to Mumbomania. To get that kind of praise from the original dev team must be amazing and more valuable to Eupholace than a Golden Jiggy!

We've seen more of the gameplay too now that the game has released, with the level I thought looked like Treasure Trove Cove actually being a remade version of TTC, with lots of new transformations available from Mumbo's head. You can turn into a canon, a rock monster, a fish, and what looks like a turtle pirate with a sword! Check out the video above, and read the rest of the article below for more information!

Original Article: 3rd December 2025 - If you want something doing properly, you've gotta do it yourself, right? Rare haven't shown any signs of giving us a new Banjo-Kazooie game since Nuts & Bolts released back in 2008, and if we're being honest, the last real Banjo game that came out was Banjo-Tooie 25 years ago, so it looks like they've washed their hands of the bear and bird completely!

Still, the ROM hacking community and loyal Banjo-Kazooie fanbase are keeping the duo alive with new titles all the time. Take KurkoMods efforts to create N64-style epics like Jiggies of Time and BK Nostalgia 64. Still, what would Banjo and Kazooie look like if they were made for modern consoles in 2025? X user and game creater @Eupholace has answered that question along with help from @Piece_of_Craft and @duckenomics, creating a modern-looking Banjo-Kazooie game that runs on PS4/Ps5 via 'Dreams'.

The trailer shows a game that feels very much like Crash Bandicoot meets Banjo-Kazooie. The worlds and characters have jumped straight from a BK game but been modernised and beefed out a little. Banjo looks like he's been hitting the protein powder! The textures on the water in the background of the featured image above are fantastic to see for a BK fan like me, and does that look a little like Treasure Trove Cove?

From what I can gather, Mumbo has lost his body and follows Banjo around like Aku-Aku in Crash Bandicoot, so I'm wondering if he offers some sort of help on your quest or gives advice like Mimir from God of War. Either way, I want to know why his body isn't there, and I wouldn't be surprised if Grunty or one of her evil relatives has something to do with it! I've also spotted Jinjos too - 'Help!'

The game is coming out today and can be played on Dreams. If you haven't heard of Dreams before, it's a platform that allows you to create and publish your own creations for other people to play. If you want to play Mumbomania, you'll need to have Dreams on your PS4 or PS5 beforehand. It's included in PS Plus Extra, so if you're already a subscriber like I am, then you can grab it now!

Mumbomania is available to play from 9am PT/12pm ET, which is 5pm UK time. Keep an eye out on Eupholace's Socials for more information!
