Grab your DS and get comfortable, because I’m going to take you back on a trip to 2005. If you’re a Naruto fan, then there’s a good chance you’ve been collecting or at least scrolling through eBay to go back and find older games. There are some epic games in the collection, but when it comes to the DS, there was always a bit of confusion as to why the West never got Naruto RPG 2 – Chidori vs Rasengan.

Weirdly, the 1st and 3rd RPGs were released over here as Path of the Ninja 1 & 2, but this 2nd RPG title was missed and only ever released in Japan. As such, the game was fully in Japanese and understandably hard for Western players to get to grips with unless they spoke Japanese.

Thanks to the Anime Game Translation Team (which sounds like one of the coolest jobs ever), we now have a Naruto RPG 2 – Chidori vs Rasengan English translation, which has been renamed Naruto: Path of the Avenger. According to the accompanying news post on Romhacking.net, the game follows the Search for Tsunade arc and continues to the very end of the Sasuke Recovery Mission. There’s a whole host of characters to choose from as you experience the second half of the original story for the very first time. It even has a RetroAcheivements pack for those who want to collect like their lives depend on it and get that full 100% feeling.

The patch is available to download now. Discover some of the gameplay with the new English translation below if you want a taster, and head to the AGTT website to find out more about their work!
