Monster Hunter & Digimon Collaborate For 20th Anniversary With The Digital Monster COLOR

Digital Monster COLOR device

When it comes to monster titles from our gaming pasts, there are two that always spring to mind first. The theme song for Digimon and the Digital Monsters that starred in the series lives rent-free in my brain to this day, and the number of hours we’ve spent trawling the massive worlds in the Monster Hunter games probably shouldn’t be tallied up. The news that both series have collaborated to celebrate 20 years of Monster Hunter is a dream come true for the Dodo team, with two new devices based on famous Monsters for collectors to nab.

If you’re a fan of Monster Hunter, then Ratholos and Zinogre are two names I’m sure you’ll be familiar with. You’re probably more used to seeing them as huge ferocious beasts on your screen rather than as tiny monsters in your pocket, but they look incredible in their new Digivice forms (more on that in the final paragraph below!).

The attention to detail on these new gadgets is unbelievable, and the fact that there are 36 monsters in total available to train while going about your everyday life is so awesome! The gameplay is the same for both of these devices and there are lots of modern features like cold mode (stopping muscles and stomach loss when the monster is cold) and backup saves as well as USB-C charging.

Pre-orders are open for these two new devices with prices here in the UK coming in at £48.80. Units will ship next year around March/April, and there’s also a little surprise available for fans of the series from Digimon artist Kenji Watanabe, with RathalosGreymon and JinougaRuromon (Jinuoga is the original Japanese name for Zinogre) available to train within the toys themselves!
