We're getting closer to the arrival of the M64, ModRetro's modern take on the N64. It's set to rival the Analogue 3D and firmly cement ModRetro as the knights of Nintendo nostalgia alongside their ModRetro Chromatic.
And, after an update from the company's CEO, we now know that there's going to be an extra colourway available from launch. Green, purple, and clear will be joined by red when the console launches, and while I thought I couldn't love anything else more than the green colour scheme, red has well and truly won me over.

The M64 shape and design brings a much more playful edge to the table than Analogue's 3D, which boasts a sleek and decorative look. Personally, I'm a big fan of what ModRetro have done here with the M64; it looks just like how toys looked back in the 90s, and I'm all for that.
We've also seen an image of the Black pre-preg PCB with clear soldermask and gold traces that you'll find inside the M64, and it's a thing of beauty. ModRetro have also given out some other key features like a cartridge uplighter for seeing your game while playing in the dark, and a hidden latch to permanently keep your cartridge flaps open.
