Retro gamers around the world will undoubtedly know all about the work of Haihaisb, aka Hairo Satoh. You will no doubt have seen his Game Boy Advance Cube handheld alongside many other weird and wonderful creations over the years, but this Tamagotchi camera could be the one I love the most.
Rather than stepping into the world of a small creature and making sure they're still alive (and I'm not talking about my friend Danny here), Hairo's newest creation allows him to capture the world around him. It's called the TamagonHAI, and while it's essentially a video camera in a Tamagotchi, for 90s nerds like me, it feels like so much more.
While the footage looks a little like something from the film Cloverfield, there's something so inherently 90s about this creation. It's like the Game Boy Camera zoom mount that Bastiaan Ekeler created to capture pictures of the moon - unnecessary, but my life is better knowing it exists.
Hairo's known for taking existing hardware and adapting it to give it a new lease of life. It's not too long ago since I wrote about the modded roulette controller that he turned into a PS1 emulator, something I would definitely want to have on a shelf in my office/in my hands at all times.
