Old Sega consoles are having the resurgence of a lifetime at the minute. The Dreamcast gets a new port every other day now, and it's nice to see Sega getting their spot in the limelight once more thanks to the epic work of the Retro Gaming community.
The Sega Saturn is still a fantastic console with some serious power to it, and hacker and Sega Saturn homebrew creator Frogbull has shown off just what the Saturn can do by porting Minecraft to it, a game that released almost two decades after the arrival of the Saturn.
While it might not be as defined as the Xbox 360 version we all spent years on back in the day or the PC offering my friends still log onto and play today, it's a fantastic project that helps to keep an old console alive, and I'll always salute Frogbull for that.
This isn't the only game that Frogbull has brought to the Saturn over the years either, having successfully ported Crash Bandicoot, FFVII, and Metal Gear Solid to Sega's otherworldly console. Frogbull is a bonafide wizard, and I'm excited to see what other games they bring to the Saturn - Ocarina of Time, maybe?
Check out the Sega Saturn Minecraft port video on their YouTube to see the gameplay in action, and support on Patreon to help them bring more wild ports like this to the Saturn in the future!
