Nintendo have revealed new Mario and Princess Peach spirits are heading to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate this weekend.
For five days only, starting on the 22nd March 2024, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate players have a chance to encounter brand new spirits from Super Mario Bros Wonder and Princess Peach Showtime!
The announcement comes from the official Nintendo channels on Twitter, which also revealed that defeating the new spirits will award players with more gold than usual. This is par for the course now with previous special spirits also granting bonus gold payouts when used in battle.
The Incredible Super Mario Bros. Wonder has been wowing players since it launched back in December with the upcoming Princess Peach Showtime launching alongside the new spirits for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate this Friday on the 22nd March.
While Nintendo hasn’t explicitly stated which spirits will be coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on Friday, the teaser image above suggests that we’ll see Elephant Mario and a Wonder Flower from Super Mario. Bros Wonder, and Princess Peach in her Swordfighter ensemble from Showtime.

The temporary addition of the new Mario and Peach spirits is part of Nintendo’s celebration of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s fifth anniversary.
The new Super Mario Bros Wonder and Princess Peach Showtime spirits form the final update for the brawler’s fifth birthday celebrations.
Other spirits that have popped up in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as part of the anniversary celebrations include characters from the Pokémon and The Legend Of Zelda series.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate originally launched on the Nintendo Switch on the 7th of December 2018 and has since sold over 33 million copies as of the 31st of December 2023.
A demo for Princess Peach Showtime is currently available on the Nintendo eShop ahead of the game’s full release on Friday.
