We've been teasing the leak for a while, but LEGO have finally revealed the official images for their new SEGA Genesis controller set, or the Mega Drive if you grew up in Europe like me! Yes, the listing is officially up on the French LEGO online store as spotted by Jay's Brick Blog, with a price of €19.99, making it one of the most affordable sets we've covered to date, with a proposed release date of September 8th.
At 260 pieces, it won't take you forever to complete, but as I've said all along, it will certainly make for an incredible display piece for your games room. It follows the likes of the Shadow the Hedghog LEGO set as part of LEGO's 18+ range, meaning it's very much something you look at and not a child's toy.

Even though the box says 'Genesis', you can always choose to use a 'SEGA' sticker like we had on the controllers here in Europe. You can choose to either have the controller in full gaming mode, or flip it around to reveal a scene from Sonic the Hedgehog's Green Hill Zone, with Sonic spin-dashing around a loop on the iconic level. There are even palm trees, rings, a makeshift Badnik, and a shield box too!

Even the box for set 40769 (just to appease the die-hard LEGO fans out there) gives me goosebumps. It feels like an old-school SEGA product, and it's leaving me wondering what's coming next. We've had the LEGO NES and the LEGO Game Boy... are we going to get a full LEGO Genesis console? What about a Game Gear, or a Dreamcast? Honestly, we'd buy them all in a heartbeat!
