It was only a matter of time before LEGO and Sony announced the new PlayStation 1 set, it was leaked many weeks ago, with images of the box making its way to social media just a couple of days ago, likely forcing Sony and LEGO's hands to reveal this thing earlier than anticipated.
PlayStation revealed this new set over on their YouTube channel and blog, and the leaks were bang on, offering 1,911 pieces, good playability, a buildable controller and two hidden dioramas in the disc drive, featuring Ape Escape and Gran Turismo, two iconic PS1 games.
PlayStation has stated that this is a "near 1:1 scale of the console, measuring 10.5 inches / 26 cm wide when fully assembled", which is great to see as nobody wants a minified version. The controller can be removed, the disc tray can be opened up by pressing the eject button, the on/off switch bounces and there's even the retro ports on the back too.

The LEGO PlayStation 1 will be available directly from PlayStation and LEGO.com starting October 1, 2026, in the U.S., U.K., France, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Italy, Spain, and Portugal. The set will also be available from October 1, 2026, for LEGO Insiders Early Access and for all via LEGO.com and LEGO Stores from October 4, 2026. retail price is $179.99 USD | €159.99 EURO | £139.99 GBP | ¥27,980 JPY, which I think is reasonable for a set of this size and calibre.
