How To Solve Waiting All Day & Night In Octopath Traveler II

Anyone else feeling stumped by the Waiting Youth in Canalbrine? I was too, which is why I’m going to show you how to solve Waiting All Day & Night in Octopath Traveler II.

This is another side quest which gives you a very subtle hint to its solution, however, it’s so subtle it’s easily missed.

I know when I first tried to figure it out, I spent a lot of time trying to Inquire, Scrutinize, and all sorts of other Path Actions to no avail. But then it dawned on me that there’s a certain party member who can Guide people to where they need to go.

After ironing out that wrinkle, the next problem I needed to overcome was where to take the Waiting Youth – according to him, he’s in the right location already. It’s a real head scratcher!

To solve this side quest, use Temenos or Agnea to Guide/Allure the Waiting Youth. Then change to nighttime and speak to the man now sat at the table.

I discovered that it was a day/night issue after speaking with the gentleman at the bottom of the Tavern steps. When you speak with this NPC, he’ll say that the youth waits all day, leaves, then comes back to wait all night.

The moment I changed to nighttime, I immediately noticed that the man now waiting looked slightly different; if you don’t look closely, you won’t see it.

That was all I needed to realise that they were two different people involved in this quest, missing each other by a matter of minutes.

Don’t feel bad if you missed this because I did too – and I’d changed from night to day right by the Tavern several times before! It was only out of frustration that I spoke with the old man again, and then all the pieces fell into place.

Instead of using Temenos or Agnea, you can also use Partitio or Ochette. However, Temenos and Agnea are the better options because their Path Actions won’t cost you anything.
