How To Get Basculegion In Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

  • February 20, 2023

Are you still exploring Paldea, eager to finish your Pokedex? But are some Pokemon making it difficult to finish? Well, you’re in luck because today I’m going to show you how to get Basculegion in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.

Before you get excited, this is by no means an easy feat, nor is there an instantaneous payoff. This is going to be a long winded process, at least in terms of seeing that Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Pokedex entry crossed off.

However, if you can weather the turbulent waters of this process you’ll end up with a cool Water/Ghost Type Pokemon, and be one step closer to cataloging all Pokemon.

Prepare yourselves, and make sure to dig out your copy of Pokemon Legends: Arceus – you can’t get Basculegion without it.

How To Get Basculegion In Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

To get Basculegion you need to evolve your Basculin in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, ready to transfer it from Pokemon Home to Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.

Unfortunately, Pokemon Home isn’t compatible with Pokemon Scarlet & Violet just yet, so you’ll have to wait for an update (hopefully coming this Spring).

Of course, you can’t transfer anything if you don’t evolve Basculin, and you can’t do that without catching one! If you haven’t done this already, head to Alabaster Icelands, Coronet Highlands, or Cobalt Coastlands in Pokemon Legends: Arceus.

Now you’re a proud owner of a Basculin, your next task is to level it up so it can learn a move that deals recoil damage; Take Down is the most obvious choice, which Basculin learns at Level 35.

But Basculin needs to do more than learn this move – it also has to use it in battle. Basculin needs to endure 294 points of recoil damage during battle… without fainting. My advice would be to stock up on a lot of Potions, then heal when needed.

You’ll know when you’ve hit that sweet spot of 294 recoil damage because Basculin’s evolution will begin – cue the dramatic music and sparkly animations.

I know this isn’t the quick Pokedex entry you were hoping for, but with Pokemon Scarlet & Violet leaks suggesting DLC is incoming, I doubt it’ll be long before we learn of updates.
