Hawk Tuah Girl Lands In The Retro Gaming World Via ‘Hawk Tuah 64’

Hawk Tuah 64 gameplay

If you thought you had seen everything, then I’m about to prove that you haven’t. The Hawk Tuah girl, whose real name is Haliey Welch, was a viral sensation earlier this year, with footage of a video interview of her saying what would eventually go on to become her catchphrase completely taking over the internet. I’ve seen hats, I’ve seen T-shirts, and I’ve heard people saying ‘Hawk Tuah’ pretty much everywhere I’ve gone over the last couple of months while rolling my eyes and mourning the world I used to know. What I haven’t seen, however, is this trend entering the world of Retro Gaming… until now, that is.

Yes, in a video that is decidedly bonkers, and with the repetitive sound of Hawk Tuah embedded into my brain from writing this article, modder rovertronic has shared footage of Hawk Tuah 64. It’s essentially the same as Super Mario 64 but with The Hawk Tuah girl as the main character. And instead of pulling off a special Mario-esque move like throwing a fireball, players can press L to ‘Hawk’.

I’m not sure how I feel about Hawking up on a Pirhana Plant or while throwing Bowser into a bomb if I’m honest – it kind of feels a little sacrilegious to me, but I do know there will be a whole host of younger retro gamers who will love running around and seeing the internet sensation spitting on Chain Chomps and Thwomps… just not me.

I’ve seen a whole host of mad Mario mods recently, what with Mazza taking the lead in a DOOM mod and slicing up enemies KatanaZERO-style. I’m a big fan of Captain Falcon and Sonic taking over from Mario in Super Mario 64, but this… this needs locking away in Pandora’s Box and never letting out.
