If you thought Bop It on the Game Boy was a '90s miracle come true, then you've seen nothing yet. Some of you might remember a little-known game called Half-Life... Who am I kidding; you've all played it, and like me, you've all spent far too many hours on it to count. During my post-Christmas demake searching, I came across a GBC version of the classic 1998 PC game that gives it an 8-bit spin, and it's fantastic.

If you liked the Halo GBC remake, then you'll be all over the style of Half Life: Gamma Burst, a playable fan-made demake of the game you know and love created by RoloMaisso.
I'll say from the off that this is more of a playable teaser than a full game, currently giving you access to the Hazard Course from the original game only. RoloMaisso is, however, working on releasing the full version of the game with the main narrative elements of the original Half-Life game present. Think of this as a taster session before the main course comes.

Gamma Burst looks fantastic on Delta on my iPhone. The controls are easy to use, the sprites are clear, and the cutscene graphics are well designed. Experience classic Half-Life characters as you control the legendary Dr Gordon Freeman, all in the iconic GBC style that we grew up with. The dialogue has been adapted to make it feel more like a GBC game, but I'm not angry about it. This is a fan-made demake, after all, and it captures the spirit of the Game Boy Color perfectly.
