Gamma PS1 Emulator Gets ‘Multitap Emulation’ In Major Update

Gameplay from the Gamma Emulator

Gamma was one of the first emulators to launch along with Delta when Apple opened up its doors to emulator makers earlier this year. We dived straight into it with a guide on how to get playing your favourite PS1 games on iPhone – how could we not get excited about the likes of Crash Bandicoot and Spyro sitting on our iPhones? The process was a little convoluted at first, but once we got into the swing of things, we were soon kicking back on the sofa and reminiscing about the glory days of the PS1.

Fast forward to July, and Gamma’s developer Benjamin Stark has been very busy. He’s just brought out a Gamma Emulator update that creates multitap emulation, the peripheral that allowed more than two players to compete in multiplayer mode by increasing the number of controller inputs from two to four. Now you can game with friends on titles like Crash Team Racing and experience all the thrills from the couch gaming era all over again.

Stark has also made updates to the app’s audio too. As reported in The Verge, the Enhance Audio function makes use of ‘reverb and interpolation techniques’ to create a better, more immersive gaming experience. There are also dual analogue sticks just like the Dual-Shock controller, and a paid version of the app that removes all advertising as you might find with some emulation apps on the Google Play store too. Head to the app store to download Gamma and get playing!
