There’s many games like Luigi’s Mansion 3, before and after the games release on Nintendo Switch in 2019, the adventurous, detective, puzzle nature of the game is very unique, and this is one of the toughest lists we’ve had to produce for that primary reasons.

It targets a massive audience, both young and old, but due to the nature of the game it’s demographic is those that like to take their time with video games, explore every room and find new puzzles to complete, all while being in the Super Mario universe.

So, let’s take a look at the 10 best games like Luigi’s Mansion 3.

1. Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker was released on Nintendo Switch in 2018 selling over one million units and is still being played by thousands to this day, even in co-op mode (which we highly advise).

It’s a action based puzzle game that’s a spin-off of the Super Mario series that builds on the classic mini games, but instead featuring the one and only Captain Toad.

You get to explore a variety of tricky sandbox-style levels, you can rotate the camera for a better view to help you find hidden treasures and Nintendo have even added in Super Mario Odyssey Levels too!

But the best bit, is that you can play through all of this with a friend using the extra joy-con. One player controls Captain Toad, and the other can assist with things like turnip cover fire you can track down even more treasure.

2. Super Mario Odyssey

Super Mario Oydssey is one of the most popular games for the Nintendo Switch, and took the handheld to the next level. It’s a semi-open world adventure puzzle game that not only boasts impressive graphics but also an incredible gaming experience.

Mario’s hat is magical, and you team up with it to adventure around the world to tackle puzzles, defeat Goomba’s and beat the one and only Bowser. What makes this game great is the sheer size of the game.

It’s a good investment due to how long it will take to complete and is one of the best games like Luigi’s Mansion 3 for the primary reason that it’s a bigger, more upbeat game, but instead, you’re Mario in a bigger world and beating things rather than “discovering/finding” things.

It’s likely that a lot of you reading this already have a copy, but if you want to experience Mario’s take on battling the world, and exploring one of the biggest games for the console, then this is it, it really is one of the best Mario games of all time.

3. Luigi’s Mansion

This may be a tricky one for you to try out as it’s one of the best Gamecube games around, and we all know buying an old Gamecube is far too expensive, so perhaps emulation is a route to play the original Luigi’s Mansion released in 2001.

Luigi’s Mansion is where it all began, it was Nintendo’s test on featuring Luigi as the main character, and it turned out to be an aboslute gem, and is stated as one of Nintendo’s best retro games of all time.

It started Luigi’s journey on the big screen, and it’s why you purchased Luigi’s Mansion 3, so there’s no better way to find games like Luigi’s Mansion 3 than by playing what started it all.

You will see how the game has evolved over the years, you will come across classic Mario friends/enemies and you’ll experience the nostalgic touch of this incredible franchise.

4. Pikmin 3 Deluxe

Pikmin 3 Deluxe is a enhanced version of Pikmin 3, which is a sequel to the original Pikmin which was launched on Gamecube in 2001, starting off an awesome franchise of adorable characters that will be remember for years to come.

The Deluxe edition features many new additions, including side stories and the multiplayer gameplay in Story Mode, which is why it’s on this games like Luigi’s Mansion 3 list, because who doesn’t love co-op games?

Pikmin 3 Deluxe is a real-time strategy game release in late 2020, and why its on the list quite simply comes down to how adorable it is, and the style of gameplay. Admittedly, Luigi’s Mansion 3 isn’t a real-time strategy game, but both (in my opinion) are peaceful games that can be played and paused at anytime, giving it a comfortable relaxed vibes.

And that’s exactly the vibe that Pikmin has to offer. It gets you thinking, but not so much that you can’t go grab a snack, or head out to the shops when in the middle of the game.

Because it’s developed by Nintendo, you’ll also get that Nintendo-like feel to the game, with awesome music, fluid gameplay and memorable characters.

This is one to pick up if you’re a strategy fan who loves cute characters and be sure to check out our article on games like Pikmin.

Atelier is a RPG that has been around since 1997, and it has been on almost every console, from the Gameboy Color, to the PS2, to the Nintendo DS and even the Dreamcast, but now it’s on all of the latest consoles ready for you to play.

It really took off in Japan, due to it being the place it primarily released, but is nonetheless worthy of a pick up if you’re into Luigi’s Mansion because of the exploration, the finding of things, collecting and even recipes to craft better and more powerful items.

It’s definitely targeting at a mature audience, one that has experience in RPG’s because it’s big, it’s in depth and there’s a lot to learn and fast especially if you’re not familiar with the franchise.

But don’t let that put you off though, you’ll be a fan of it if you like Luigi’s Mansion 3, there’s a reason the franchise has sold over five million units.

7. Resident Evil

Huh? What is this? Resident Evil as one of the games like Luigi’s Mansion 3? Come on!

Yep. Luigi’s Mansion 3 isn’t a scary game, but it’s detective-like, and mystery-like gameplay is exactly what you’ll get when you play Resident Evil, more specifically Resident Evil: Village for PS5.

Resident Evil: Village takes the franchise to next-gen consoles and it’s unlike anything we’ve ever played. The graphics are incredible and the monsters are so well designed that it deserves an award for scariest video game of 2021, hands down.

If you like the spooky, scary aspect of Luigi’s Mansion 3 and want something that takes that to the extreme, then this is a game for you, and it’s especially good on next-gen consoles, just make sure you prepare yourself… by that we mean an extra pair of clean pants.

8. Eastward

A retro-inspired game known as Eastward is another great pick if you’re looking for games like Luigi’s Mansion 3.

It’s an art adventure RPG set in a beautifully detailed world where society is slowly collapsing due to the human population dropping at an incredible rate. You control a hardworking labourer called john, who must guide a girl named Sam through dangerous locations, strange monsters and hard puzzles.

The visual style is inspired by 90’s Japanese animation, partly because the development team loved it and they were also inspired by the Mother and Legend of Zelda series which is obvious when you start playing Eastward.

It’s a fun, loving game, that you can’t help but love. It’s easy to understand, a visual masterpiece and it’s a game we keep going back to, so that’s why it’s on this list.

9. Paper Mario

Paper Mario: The Origami Kid is one of the best games like Luigi’s Mansion 3 for many reasons. Paper Mario originally came out on the Nintendo 64 in 2000 and now, 20 years later its on the Nintendo Switch selling millions of units.

The story follow Mario and his buddies as they set out on a journey to prevent the Mushroom Kingdom from being changed into origami, so like traditional Mario games you have to free Princess Peach’s castle from despair.

It has elements of action adventure, role playing games and puzzle games, making it very much like Luigi’s Mansion 3 and keeping the Nintendo vibe with a bunch of very familiar faces.

It’s easy to master, but with level difficulties that can be changed it can become quite challenging, making it a good pick up for all ages.

10. Kirby & The Forgotten Land

It wouldn’t be an article about a Nintendo game without the infamous Kirby. Kirby and the Forgotten Land is by far one of the best Kirby games of all time and if you’re a Luigi fan, it’s going to be hard not to love this big pink bubble.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land is a platform game, just like the originals but this time with better graphics, a bigger world and in 3D.

You muster through different stages to eventually save the Waddle Dees. You can jump, slide, inhale enemies, spit objects and transform into a massive amounts of different items, enemies and even vehicles that you stumble upon.

It’s being classed as one of the best Nintendo Switch games to date and it puts Kirby on a very high pedestal. If you’re a fan of Luigi’s Mansion 3 then this is a great game to snag should you want to see a flagship Nintendo game.
