A little bit of competition is healthy, right? That's probably how ANBERNIC see it when they're coming for the likes of Powkiddy, but I wonder how they'll see it now that GameMT have entered the fray with a 1:1 display to take on the likes of the RG CubeXX.
We've had a couple of other 1:1 display handhelds coming to the table of late, thanks to the ZPG A1 Unicorn and one of our favourite handhelds from 2023, the Powkiddy RGB30. GameMT's 'E3 Vigor' sounds like a dev company who are really pulling out all of the stops at the gone-but-not-forgotten gaming convention.
It's set to come in three colours and ship with USB-C charging, a microSD card/TFT slot for installing your ROMs, and the asymmetrical joystick style that I've become used to from years of playing with Nintendo controllers. There's also an 8-way D-pad for pulling off those special moves in Street Fighter - HADOUKEN!
That's about as much as I can give you at the moment, however, as the remaining details on the E3 Vigor have yet to be revealed. According to Notebook Check, it's supposedly running on Android. It should most definitely be more powerful than the RGB30, however, thus technically knocking it out of the water in terms of competition, though that will depend on what price GameMT put on it. As always, I'll report more on the processor, RAM, resolution, and more as when it lands on my desk!
