Delta 1.7 Update Brings DS Online Multiplayer For All Users This Month

A promotional banner for the Delta Public TestFlight

Can you remember back in October 2024 when Brandon and I tested out the closed beta online multiplayer on Mario Kart DS through Delta for the first time? It was amazing being able to play nostalgic tracks on our phones from different parts of the country 1o years after the DS' online service ended, and we've been waiting patiently for it to roll out to the general public. Well, Delta's co-creator Riley Testut reached out to us to let us know that the wait is finally over, and online multiplayer is officially arriving in the latest Delta update on Monday 31st March, 2025.

Riley and Shane have been working on supporting online multiplayer in Nintendo DS games and working with 3rd party Nintendo WFC servers to host the multiplayer sessions. Whether you've already got the App through the Apple App Store or are planning on downloading it from the Alt Store, the update will allow you to take advantage of any online functions in any DS games - that means battling and trading in Pokémon games!

The new update isn't just going to unlock some online battling memories for you, however; there will now be updated N64 core support for custom resolutions + textures, more support for custom skins and controllers, and improved support for cases like the GAMEBABY mobile case that you've seen Brandon rocking in his many videos. Gamers will also be able to take screenshots in-game too.

The public TestFlight of the new update including the DS online multiplayer function is available to test now before the official release on Monday. Head to the public TestFlight page for more information!
