I've seen a lot of retro gaming references making their way into the music world of late. Bring me the Horizon have been using N64-style opening sequences for their live sets for a while now and mentioning the console mid gig, Pendulum have Tetris-effects on screen during their sets, and Don Broco have been selling merch with an Ecco the Dolphin-esque logo for a while too.
Now, electronic music legend deadmau5 is joining the trend by releasing a special Atari game playable on the 7800. It will be playable ahead of his performance in Denver next month and can be played and purchased from a pop-up shop at the Space Annex.
The game is called 'Meowingtons Revenge' and features A pixelated version of deadmau5 on the front. The game will also work on the Atari 2600+ and the 7800+ if you don't have the original console.
Unfortunately, I don't have any footage of the game to show you because deadmau5 and Atari are keeping this one close to their chests, but with the event happening on November 7th and 8th, those of you attending the concert in Denver won't have long to wait. Other items will be on sale at the pop-up shop too, with fans also having a chance to meet deadmau5 and get a picture with him.
Sorry, deadmau5, but it's the Atari game I'm most interested in here, and how much it's going to resell for on second-hand sites once the concert is over! Once I do see some footage, however, I'll be sure to share it here!
